Abstract

This study addresses the role of biomedical professionals in the screening, prevention, and diagnosis of cervical cancer in the state of Amazonas, highlighting their importance in controlling this disease, which represents a serious public health problem. The objective is to analyze the main functions performed by biomedical professionals in the early detection and prevention stages, emphasizing the impact of their practices on reducing female mortality. The methodology is based on a narrative literature review, through consultation of scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025, available in databases such as SciELO, PubMed, and Google Scholar. The results demonstrate that biomedical professionals play an essential role in the performance and interpretation of cytopathological tests, such as the Pap smear, in the laboratory analysis of samples, and in providing guidance on preventive measures. It was also found that their work contributes significantly to early diagnosis and the appropriate referral of patients to referral services, strengthening public health strategies aimed at controlling cervical cancer in Amazonas.
