Abstract

The research analyzed the understanding, perception, and acceptance of digital health support tools among residents of Caála, Angola, with a focus on HIV infection. Although progress has been made in diagnosis and antiretroviral treatment in Angola, deficiencies remain regarding awareness, prevention, stigmatization, and psychosocial support. The study adopted a quantitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach, with a sample of 50 participants selected randomly and intentionally, covering diverse sociodemographic profiles. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire exploring sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge about HIV, perception of stigma, and familiarity with digital technologies. The findings showed that most participants were young, female, and had higher education levels. Knowledge about HIV was high (98%), with media being the main source of information (54%). Perception of stigma was significant, with 80% acknowledging that prejudice limits access to healthcare. Regarding digital platforms, 94% considered their adoption relevant, 90% believed they have a beneficial effect, and 80% were willing to pay for access, even though 62% had never used these tools. Levels of access and technological proficiency varied: high (46%), medium (40%), and low (14%). It is concluded that there is good awareness of HIV and openness to adopting digital health platforms, but restrictions in access and lack of technological familiarity require strategies for digital inclusion, training, and awareness-raising. The creation of a digital health support platform in Caála is feasible and can be highly effective, contributing to stigma reduction, improving quality of life, and strengthening public health policies.
