Abstract

The world of work is constantly changing, influenced by technological advances, changes in business models and new social and economic demands. In this context, work shifts have become increasingly dynamic, with practices that seek to meet the productivity and flexibility demands of the market. However, Brazilian labor legislation, largely based on traditional models, has difficulty adapting to the legal changes inherent to so many transformations. In this context, this article seeks to analyze whether, given the new forms of work organization, it is possible to consider that there is a gap in Brazilian labor legislation in regulating working hours. To this end, the methodology adopted is the analysis of documentary research, with the objective of evaluating the legal and social consequences for both workers and employers, with regard to the regulation of working hours and social protection of workers. Furthermore, the results obtained throughout the work demonstrate the need to update the legislation, in order to promote its adaptation to the current reality and mitigate the social and economic problems faced in the country.
