The study focuses on sexual and moral abuse in women's lives, addressing mainly the social and psychological impacts this problem causes and the role of Criminal Law in dealing with these forms of violence. This study was designed because it is possible to see that even with current advances in legislation and this issue being much discussed worldwide, abuse continues to occur on a recurring basis. Furthermore, victims, in addition to facing physical violence, still suffer prejudice from society and even from judicial institutions, leading to various psychological problems, such as depression and anxiety. The research also provides an analysis of the different forms of abuse that exist and highlights the importance of education and prevention, with the intention of solving this problem in society. Finally, it discusses the need for reforms in the criminal system, with courts and professionals trained to deal with this issue that is so delicate in the lives of many women, and, in this way, ensure an effective and humane response to gender-based violence.
