Abstract

The digital book "IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL WORK IN THE FIGHT AGAINST FEMICIDE" is a work of fundamental relevance for the understanding of the multiple facets of gender violence, offering a comprehensive and analytical view of the transformative role of Social Work in the fight against femicide. Structured in three chapters that complement each other, the text explores, in great detail, the historical, legal and social aspects that involve the theme.

In Chapter I, entitled "Violence Against Women", the book traces a historical and sociological analysis of gender violence. The text shows how these abusive practices find deep roots in a society structured on patriarchal patterns, perpetuating inequality between men and women. From this base, the chapter presents the different types of violence suffered by women, such as physical, psychological, sexual, moral and patrimonial, which directly affect the dignity and fundamental rights of victims.

By addressing violence against women, the first chapter also highlights the social impacts of this problem, which not only directly affect women, but also disrupt families and communities. The work points out that gender violence is a collective problem, which requires concrete and joint actions to eradicate it, reinforcing the need for awareness in all sectors of society.

The second chapter, "Maria da Penha Law", addresses in detail the importance of this legal framework in the protection of women against domestic and family violence. The work revisits the historical context of the creation of the law, highlighting the struggle of Brazilian women and the protagonism of Maria da Penha Fernandes, whose history of resistance was the basis for the legislation.

In this chapter, the text delves into the legal provisions provided for by the Maria da Penha Law, such as emergency protective measures and mechanisms for holding aggressors accountable. In addition, the chapter discusses the barriers faced in the effective implementation of the law, such as the lack of resources, the overload of the judicial system, and the cultural challenges that still hinder the fight against gender-based violence.

Another relevant point explored in the second chapter is the need for an interdisciplinary approach in the application of the Maria da Penha Law. The work highlights how joint work between the legal, social, psychological and health sectors is essential to ensure that women victims of violence are properly protected and supported.

In Chapter III, entitled "The Importance of Social Work in the Prevention of Violence", the book highlights the crucial role played by social workers in confronting violence against women. This chapter analyzes how Social Work acts directly in the construction of support and reception networks, offering emotional support, guidance and protection to victims.

The work emphasizes that Social Work professionals are fundamental for the articulation of public policies aimed at preventing and combating gender violence. They play an essential role in implementing educational programs, strengthening family and community bonds, and creating strategies to break cycles of violence.

The chapter also highlights the positive impact of the integrated performance of social workers with other professionals, such as psychologists, lawyers, and health agents. This multidisciplinary approach is presented as one of the most effective ways to promote the emotional recovery of victims and the reconstruction of their lives with dignity and autonomy.

Another relevant aspect addressed in the third chapter is the importance of raising awareness and training Social Work professionals. The text highlights how continuous training is essential to deal with the complexity of situations of gender violence, ensuring that professionals are prepared to offer effective and humanized interventions.

In addition, the chapter reinforces the need for robust public policies and investments in strengthening social protection networks. The book emphasizes that Social Work, as an agent of transformation, needs to be valued and supported to act fully in the construction of a more just and equitable society.

Throughout the three chapters, the work proposes a reflective and practical approach, connecting theoretical analyses with concrete strategies to confront femicide. The interdisciplinarity present in each section of the book reflects the commitment to integrated and effective solutions to this complex problem.

The conclusion of the book brings together the central points addressed throughout the chapters, reinforcing that the eradication of gender violence requires collective mobilization. The text emphasizes that Social Work, combined with public policies and social awareness, plays a fundamental role in preventing and combating femicide.

Finally, the book "IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL WORK IN COMBATING FEMICIDE" is not only a critical and in-depth analysis of violence against women, but also a guide for transformative actions. It is a work that inspires reflections and proposes ways to build a more egalitarian and respectful society.
