SURFACE TREATMENT OF STEEL TO COMBAT DETERIORATION
Keywords:
Steels. Surface Treatment. Deteriorations.Abstract
This digital book was created with the aim of offering a clear and well-founded view of surface treatments applied to steel, covering everything from basic concepts to the most commonly used practices in the industry. Steel, widely used in various production sectors, is subject to wear and corrosion processes that compromise its performance and durability. In this context, surface treatments emerge as essential strategies to ensure resistance and extend the useful life of metal components.
Divided into three chapters, the work initially covers the theoretical foundations of steels and their possible treatment configurations. It then presents the main methods of surface preparation and treatment, highlighting the technologies and parameters involved in this process. Finally, the reader is led to a practical and technical approach to the applications and benefits of treatments, contributing to mastery of the subject.
The content was designed for both students and professionals in training and for those who already work in the areas of engineering, metallurgy and materials science. The accessible language and objective structure make this material a useful tool for reference, teaching and practical application.
May this reading broaden the understanding of the challenges faced by metallic materials and offer effective ways to combat them through surface engineering.
