Abstract

It is proven that, in Brazil, literacy continues to be one of the main challenges of educational policies inherent to the teaching-learning processes and, for this reason, it is always discussed, evaluated, studied or transformed. This article establishes a dialogue between the author and other theorists, such as: Ferreiro (2011), Geempa (2012), Kleiman (1995), Mortatti (2014), Soares (2020a, 2020b, 2021), Tfouni (2010) that support approaches, opinions and considerations about literacy and literacy. All the discussions that took place in this space say a lot about the importance of the acquisition of reading and writing in the broad educational context, but mainly, it addresses the two themes of literacy and literacy, evidencing their emergence, the essentiality of the use of these words and their attributions, as well as arguing about the differences and similarities between the two concepts under analysis.
