NURSE'S ROLE IN CARE OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISTIC SPECTRUM DISORDER AND FAMILY SUPPORT

Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects the lives of children and their families. In this context, this study aimed to verify the role of nurses in caring for children with autism spectrum disorder, focusing on the strategies used and support for families, with the aim of contributing to a better understanding of nursing practices aimed at the autism. The research was an integrative review, with a qualitative approach, developed through a literature review. The study identified that autism spectrum disorder is a complex condition, which has implications for the lives of children and their families, revealing the need for adequate health care. It was concluded that, to act in the care of children with ASD and their families, the nurse needs to have a holistic vision, meet the demands of the condition and use strategies to promote better care, contributing to a better organization of family dynamics and improving the quality of life for this public.
