Abstract

This work addresses the growing challenge that the aging of the female population represents for health systems, highlighting the specific and complex needs faced by elderly women. The research focuses on understanding the health demands of these women in the context of primary care, considering issues such as chronic diseases, mental health and access to adequate care. Thus, the general objective of the study was to investigate the health needs of elderly women in the context of primary care in the national literature. For the research, the bibliographic review methodology was adopted, with a qualitative approach. Given the results, it was possible to see that it is essential that health policies aimed at elderly women in primary care are reviewed and improved. Strategies that promote comprehensive care, health education, support for informal caregivers and the inclusion of a multidimensional approach in meeting the health needs of elderly women are fundamental to ensuring a better quality of life and well-being for this population . It is concluded that it is essential that health policies are reviewed and improved, considering the particularities and specific needs of elderly women.
