THE ROLE OF THE NURSE IN CASE OF VIOLENCE TO THE HOMELESS POPULATION

Abstract

The homeless population faces several vulnerabilities, such as lack of housing and difficulty accessing basic services. This makes her susceptible to different forms of violence, including physical, psychological, sexual and homicide. Given the vulnerabilities faced by the homeless population, the role of nurses is essential in offering adequate health care targeted at the specific needs of these individuals. The nurse plays a crucial role in this context, being the early identification of signs of physical, psychological, sexual violence and homicide, through carrying out comprehensive health assessments and creating a safe and confidential environment for dialogue. However, caring for this population faces challenges, such as a lack of safety in the care environment and ethical divergences within the healthcare team. The present study aims to investigate the existing scientific production on the role of nurses in caring for victims of violence among the homeless population, exploring practices, challenges and intervention strategies, in addition to evaluating the impact of these actions on the health of these individuals. marginalized. A literary review was carried out through an online survey in the following databases: Google Scholar, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Virtual Health Library, National Library of North American Medicine. In this review, ten scientific articles, one monograph, were analyzed. And they highlighted the double challenge faced by the homeless population when seeking health care, and how nursing is articulated in providing care to this marginalized group.
