Abstract

Obesity is associated with mechanisms that impair female fertility, such as anovulatory cycles and reduced endometrial receptivity to the embryo. This study, through a systematic review, analyzed the effects of weight loss and showed that both non-pharmacological and pharmacological measures may improve infertility by promoting weight reduction. In summary, weight loss, even when moderate, provides relevant benefits. However, the use of medications during the preconception period still requires caution, reinforcing the need for individualized strategies and prioritizing lifestyle changes to optimize fertility without compromising maternal-fetal health.
