Abstract

Contemporary slave labor is a problem that plagues Brazil to the present day. In the country of the Citizen Constitution, where the basis of the system is the dignity of the human person, much has been done in the national legal system to combat the issue. Some events were fundamental for this normative evolution, among which the activation of the inter-American system for the protection of human rights stands out through the cases of José Pereira vs Brasil and Fazenda Brasil Verde vs Brasil. Despite this, finding workers in conditions similar to that of slaves is still a Brazilian reality.
