Urban growth presents complex challenges for public management, requiring solutions that balance economic development, quality of life, and sustainability. Smart cities emerge as an innovative alternative, using technology to make urban spaces more efficient. This study analyzes four cities: São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Copenhagen, and Curitiba, highlighting different approaches to sustainable planning. While São José dos Campos invests in technological innovation, São Paulo faces structural challenges. Copenhagen exemplifies sustainable mobility and collaborative governance, while Curitiba prioritizes integrated urban planning. The analysis shows that technology, citizen participation, and planning are essential for resilient cities. Adapting strategies to local contexts is crucial for ensuring inclusion and sustainability.
