The practice of clinical psychology in supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has gained increasing attention, especially due to the rise in diagnoses and the diversity of profiles encompassed by the spectrum. This article aims to analyze the challenges and opportunities faced by clinical psychology in understanding, intervening, and providing care for people with ASD, considering theoretical and practical advances in the field. The bibliographic research is based on recent publications by authors who discuss clinical practices using contemporary frameworks. It is observed that, despite difficulties related to early diagnosis, the building of therapeutic bonds, and the adaptation of intervention strategies, the field has evolved toward more humanized and individualized approaches. As a result, clinical psychology expands its scope of action, proposing more integrative paths that address the unique needs of each person with ASD.
