VASCULAR OCCLUSION IN LIP FILLER: A CLINICAL CASE REPORT

Abstract

This article reports the occurrence of vascular occlusion involving the application of hyaluronic acid in a lip filling procedure whose signs manifest as intense and progressive pain moments after the procedure. These and other signs, such as the gradual increase in bruising, swelling, visual changes and changes in skin sensitivity, require urgent contact with a professional, as it could be skin ischemia. Objective: to discuss a case of vascular occlusion after lip filler, with the use of hyaluronidase for HA reabsorption and the application of drug therapy, are also addressed. Results: The study used information from the medical records of a patient treated at a private dental clinic in southern Brazil who underwent a lip filling procedure with hyaluronic acid and who presented adverse reactions and the conduct followed by the professional in solving the problem. Conclusion: In this way, the work concludes that the application of Hyaluronidase becomes a decisive means to reverse complications caused by HA injection, and it is important that the professional has this medication at their disposal in the dental environment to reverse a vascular occlusion if it is complications may occur during the lip filling procedure.
