Abstract

Judicial cognition in Brazilian civil procedure is approached based on the texts of Giuseppe Chiovenda, Kazuo Watanabe and Luiz Guilherme Marinoni. With two sections, one referring to the object of cognition and the other related to its species, the text seeks to demonstrate the importance of the theme for the development of the right to adversarial proceedings and for the adequacy of judicial protection.
