Abstract

The global electricity sector is undergoing significant changes due to the insertion of new technologies in the areas of communication, sensing, cybersecurity and monitoring. In view of this, the objective of this study is to present how government regulatory agencies and concessionaire companies have sought to adapt to modernization through Smart Grids and how access to data on the electrical network through Smart Meters allows faster detection of faults and problems with trading losses. In addition, the proposal is to elucidate the benefits of implementing these smart grids for utilities, consumers and society in general. The methodology used was the bibliographical research, with the analysis of the scientific production on the subject.
