ROLE OF THE PHARMACIST IN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE

The Public Health System resulted from decades of struggle by a movement called the Sanitary Reform Movement. It was instituted by the Federal Constitution (CF) of 1988 and consolidated by Laws 8080 and 8142. This System was called the Unified Health System (SUS), and is considered the largest public health program in the world. Basic health care or primary health care corresponds to the initial care of users in public health systems, where the pharmacist plays a fundamental role in helping to build users' health care, monitoring their treatments and aiming at the quality of life of these subjects. This article aims to present the importance of the pharmacist in primary health care. This is a qualitative and bibliographical reading review of articles from sites such as Google Scielo, Google Scholar and scientific journals. We sought to answer the following question: What are the pharmacist's duties in primary care? It was concluded that the Pharmaceutical professionais plays an important role in primary care, adding his knowledge to that of other professionals with the ultimate goal of health promotion.
