Dipyrone or metamizole is an over-the-counter, low-cost medication with analgesic and antipyretic action, found in the form of ampoules, suppositories, drops, syrup and pills, characteristics that make it one of the most consumed medications in Brazil, despite its commercialization in countries such as the United States is prohibited. In view of the high consumption of Dipyrone in Brazil, it is necessary to use measures that guarantee the quality control of the medicine, for this the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia establishes minimum requirements for the quality of medicines, by carrying out tests for analysis and quality assurance. This work is a literature review of articles produced with the purpose of evaluating the quality of 500mg dipyrone tablets consumed in Brazil. The articles were used to create a table with the quality control methods performed by each one of them and compare them with those recommended by the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia. In the result, it was observed that none of the selected articles analyzed all the parameters recommended by the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia.
