To have a skin protected from solar radiation, an indispensable measure is the use of photoprotectors. In the long spectrum of solar radiation, there is ultraviolet radiation (UV), which is divided into UVA, UVB and UVC, responsible for causing harmful and beneficial effects to the skin. But UVA and UVB radiation are able to penetrate the epidermis and dermis and can cause skin problems, such as solar erythema, skin photosensitization, photoaging and photocarcinogenesis. Therefore, the use of photoprotectors is extremely important for skin protection, but the use of photoprotectors with actives with UVA and UVA protection can end up being unstable and causing allergic reactions to the user. This work aims to carry out a bibliographical review on the assets that can be found in photoprotectors or sunscreens that can cause possible skin allergies, since the use of sunscreens is the most effective strategy for photoprotection against UV. Method: The research method was a bibliographic survey and research by academic google and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) using the terms: Skin, Immunity, harmful effects of sunscreen, UV rays.
