Twentieth-century highway urbanism increased physical and social distances in cities and aggravated environmental problems. Brasília, a field of experimentation in modern urbanism, was not left out of this scenario and currently suffers from sprawl, Via TransBrasília appears to connect the Administrative Regions of the southern axis to each other and to the center of the capital. This article proposes an investigative and evaluative study of the potential application of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) in the future design of the road, based on the Urban Guidelines of Via TransBrasília (DIUR 03/2018) and analyzed in two stages: “8 Principles of a DOTS project: does Via TransBrasília fit these requirements?” and “Steps for implementing DOTS policies and projects”.
