Abstract

Since 1988, health has gained a new configuration in Brazil, becoming everyone's right and  the State's   duty. Since then, it was necessary to create a system capable of materializing health as a universal right. Thus, the Unified Health System (SUS) and other policies emerged. Universality and integrality in the field of professional health care from the promulgation of these policies, as areas of action with a humanized. The practice of welcoming became a parameter for health professionals, not being different for the social worker, since this is one of the professionals in the area. This objective is to demonstrate the importance of the PERFORMANCE OF THE SOCIAL ASSISTANT IN THE RECEPTION OF THE ONCOLOGICAL PATIENT TO PALLIATIVE CARE in the conduction and in the social rights of the cancer patient. This is a bibliographic and field research, and with the accomplishment of a review in which scientific and legislation were consulted on the survey, articles and research, encompassing the reception and research in health, the Social Service to the palliatives together with Oncology. It was considered, through the bibliographic survey, that the reception is, in fact, an important practice for the access to the social rights of the person with the diagnosis of cancer.
