The objective of this study is to analyze and discuss data regarding the Brazilian road modal and its influence on the price of food products, i.e., how the unbalance of the transportation matrix reflects directly or indirectly on the cost of commodities. Through the analysis of academic articles, bibliographical research and reports, it was possible to determine that the lack of plurality in the modes of transportation is one of the main villains in the rise of Brazil's cost, because the dependence on road transport as the main means of flowing raw materials through the country has brought about several economic problems, due to the high cost, whether in fuel prices or with the wear of the vehicle or driver. In comparing Brazil to the main world economies, it is possible to see the inequality caused by the absence of better investment in the diversification of modes, reflecting a considerable difference in export costs, hindering and delaying Brazil's economic development and reducing its level of competitiveness in the international market.
