THE PSYCHOLOGIST IN FACING THE SUFFERING OF PROFESSIONALS IN THE FRAMEWORK OF PALLIATIVE CARE BEFORE PATIENTS' ANXIETY OF DEATH

This study sought to reflect on the role of the psychologist towards the professionals who work in the Palliative Care sector in the hospital environment, in view of the psychological suffering of these presented in the face of the finitude of the lives of their patients, as well as elucidating the impasses through coping of the mourning experienced by the team. In this context, the research problem was what is the psychologist's role in the face of aspects that influence the psychic illness of health professionals in the context of palliative care? With regard to the general objective, it proposed to investigate the psychologist's practice in the face of factors that influence the difficulty of experiencing grief for health professionals in the sphere of palliative care. With regard to the specific objectives, these were: a) to analyze the difficulty of recognizing the mourning of the professionals of the palliative care team, b) to understand the conceptions of death and its historical context and c) to point out the role of the psychologist towards the resistance of acceptance of the grieving process of these caregivers. To carry out this study, the bibliographical research method was used. As a result, it was found that there is difficulty in recognizing and working with the grieving process, resulting in emotional suffering in professionals who work in the Palliative Care sector, thus, the role of the psychologist is essential in this scenario, in the search for strategies for intrinsic resolutions in coping with caregivers' emotional demands.
