Ceramic coatings are widely used in civil engineering works, as they offer high durability, good technical performance and vast aesthetic possibilities. Despite the evolution of the industry and the fixing methods, after application, ceramic tiles usually present pathologies that compromise the performance, both structural and aesthetic of the coating. The study was divided into two stages, being a bibliographic review covering the topic of ceramic tiles and their pathologies; and a field research in a housing project in Marituba-PA, where it was possible to identify several pathologies such as: detachment of plates, flaws in the grout, scratches, stains and wear. It was found that the material used meets the performance standards, so there was a failure in the execution of the project or in the misuse of the coating.
