WHAT'S BEHIND THE UNIFORM? PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE OF MILITARY FIRE FIGHTERS

The military environment is composed of several potentially adverse and stressful situations, which can result in physical and psychological overload of workers and, consequently, influence their social, family and personal life. This research aims to understand, investigate and analyze the relationship between work and the mental health of military firefighters. This is a research with a qualitative approach, with field study procedures. The sample consisted of thirteen members of a corporation in the western region of the state of Paraná. For data collection, a sociodemographic conversation and a semi-structured interview were used, prepared by the authors based on the literature. Data were analyzed with the support of the Interface de R pour les Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionnaires (IRaMuTeQ) software, whose functionality is to perform quantitative analyzes on textual corpus. The results demonstrate, through five classes of analysis, the importance of identifying the personal, family, social and occupational factors that exist behind the uniform. Finally, the data point, in addition to advancing scientific knowledge in the area, to the need to develop occupational health programs, which allow a space for attentive listening, with the aim of supporting actions of a biopsychosocial nature for the worker, not just following the execution of work with quality and safety, but above all, that values the interface work, personal and working life.
