Abstract

All segments of society, concerned about the environment and the scarcity of natural resources, are looking for more sustainable growth alternatives. Due to the large amount of waste discarded per year, resulting from the disorderly consumption of raw materials, waste recycling is an interesting alternative in the pursuit of environmental well-being. One of the greatest challenges, for the technical-scientific, is to transform discarded waste into raw material within their own sector of activity. In this context, civil construction, responsible for a large part of the waste generated, engages in development research for the standardization of recycling (RCD), an activity that originated after the Second World War, in 1946, the rubble of devastated cities was used as aggregate in the manufacture of concrete, but its diffusion and development occurred more diligently in the last decade. In the current scenario, with a view to conserving the environment, the entire technological center pays attention to fully sustainable development, with a lower rate of degradation of natural resources. In view of this concept, the aim of this research is to present a study of the current situation of civil construction waste recycling in Brazil, with growth statistics, market comparisons and feasibility of reusing this aggregate from recycling.
