The production in question encourages discussion and relates field observation in a host institution, along with a literary review related to the theme of the imprisonment of madness, carrying out a historical overview of how the Brazilian state and society dealt and have been dealing with those who sorely need the support and assistance of those in power. Institutions still today rescue, embrace and maintain asylum models similar to those practiced and founded after slavery and during Eugenics and the process of cleaning the Brazilian population, making this population group unfeasible and dehumanizing, excluding and then including very poorly. The review and reformulation of asylum standards and the adoption of inclusion policies helped to rescue and legitimize the citizenship and rights of those institutionalized.
