The conception of traditionalism in education took place over the years due to the teaching method in which the teacher is placed at the center of the entire educational process and knowledge is passed on as absolute truths, not giving students the opportunity to question or present their opinions. doubts, that is, a process of repetition, mechanized and lifeless. This article aims to analyze the importance of using active methodologies in the teaching and learning process in Elementary School Early Years. Regarding the methods, several texts from books and articles found in virtual sources were used to contribute to the discussions on the topic addressed and to get even closer to the subject under discussion. The active methodology came with a proposal to make the classes more dynamic, contextualized and at the same time fun, through activities that use mechanisms different from the traditional method, such as putting the class to work in groups to solve a problem of reality of the students, sitting in a circle to present and discuss different strategies presented by the class, games to develop knowledge, in addition to useful technologies in the daily life of a classroom. In this perspective, the teacher becomes a mediator in the classroom and gives the student the possibility to build his own knowledge autonomously, develop creativity, confidence, empathy with his classmate and the teacher, in addition to the feeling of belonging and responsibility.
