Abstract

This article sought to describe labial and lingual frenectomy and the main most effective and efficient techniques (with regard to the reduction of discomfort to the patient in the pre, trans and postoperative periods). To this end, a literature review research on the aforementioned topic was carried out, with the purpose of seeking considerations by authors of works available on the Google Scholar, LILACS, SciELO and Pubmed indexing platforms, retrieved with specific criteria and descriptors. The search finally returned 14 authors. In conclusion, all current forms of surgical intervention of labial and lingual frenectomy are effective, however, the most applied is the conventional one, given its simplicity and economy. But the most efficient, for being faster, more painless, providing less bleeding and a better postoperative period, are the surgeries performed with laser technology.
