Selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs), are a class of androgen receptor ligands that demonstrate selective effects on androgen signaling tissues, have chemically programmed molecules that have the power to selectively exert agonist and antagonist effects on the receptor of androgen in several scales, thus proving the great difference between them and the anabolic steroids. Through research and randomized and non-randomized studies, there is a preference for the use of SARMs for aesthetic purposes, but it has effects already mentioned in the literature as efficient in the treatment of some pathologies metabolic effect of using SARMs and steroids. Most SARMs have the ability to activate the androgen receptor in muscles and bones, making possible a variety of actions, mainly positive in your metabolism. Although still early, the preclinical data are promising, the tests that prove the effectiveness of SARMs are still premature, so more research is needed to obtain conclusions regarding their molecular basis and their tissue selectivity.
