This work aims to address the family as the basis of society, which is why it must be protected by all instruments, so that family abandonment in various forms is considered a crime, but there are other provisions of Criminal Law that can provide or a clause that contains the act, but is advised and punished by criminal law. Abandonment can cause psychological damage, and often, enter a situation of deep depression, decreasing self-esteem and increasing the insecurity of these abandoned people. The elderly also feel the consequences, when they are abandoned by someone, just as children suffer, with the psyche because of the absence of the parents. We will analyze clearly and objectively, concepts, principles, to discuss crimes against family aid, especially moral and material abandonment, referring to how they are practiced, what are the consequences, and how punishments are applied to those practice them. Crimes in the Brazilian legal system.
