This essay argues the thesis of the permanence of the gender gap in parliaments at the global and national levels. For the theoretical foundation of the discussion on democracy, Robert Alan Dahl, Leonardo Morlino and Marcus André Melo were used - from which a sociological reflection is established for the understanding that, in democratic countries, the political equality of all is still violated.
