Objective: To analyze the impact of underreporting of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) for pharmacovigilance. Bibliographic Review: The reports of ADRs were driven from various events around the world that negatively impacted the pharmacotherapy of patients. Therefore, when performed in a coherent manner, it positively implies the quality of life of drug users and pharmacovigilance. To carry out this process, the multidisciplinary team is of paramount importance. However, the pharmacist has gained more and more prominence in notifications, since he is the best qualified professional to perform these interventions. Parallel to this, it is necessary to consider the importance of health professionals' communication with drug users, as it is of paramount importance for the monitoring and notification of ADRs. Final considerations: It is necessary to understand about the risks that ADRs can cause to drug users, because when avoided and duly notified, they improve the quality of life of the patient and their pharmacotherapy.
