Abstract

Ozone therapy is a technique of wide applicability, improving the oxygenation and metabolism of the organism, having bactericidal, fungal, viricidal effects, also acting in the blood circulation, improving the vascularization of the body, facilitating the passage of erythrocytes through the capillaries, guaranteeing a better supply of oxygen to the body. In addition to its physiological effects, ozone therapy reduces platelet adhesion, has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, stimulant of the reticulo-endothelial system and potent antioxidant action. Ozone therapy has been applied in the treatment of extensive and difficult-to-heal wounds, as well as ischemic, allergic and disinfectant processes, offering efficient and favorable results, serving as a complementary therapy, minimizing the use of drugs with a high degree of side effects. The topical use of ozonated oils has germicidal action, activation of local microcirculation, improves cell metabolism and oxygenation and promotes the growth of granulation tissue of epithelial tissue, being a valuable agent in wound management. This study aims to report the case of a female dog, SRD, 2 years old, rescued with an extensive and contaminated open lesion in the cervical region, treated with ozone therapy and ozonized oil, showing great effectiveness in tissue repair prior to the procedure. cutaneous plastic surgery, for aesthetic repair of the patient.
