AN ANALYSIS OF THE QUALITY OF PUBLIC FREE SPACES IN IMPERATRIZ/MA: CASE STUDY OF PRAÇA DA BÍBLIA

Abstract

This article aims to present an analysis of the quality of public open spaces in the city of Imperatriz do Maranhão. The object of study of this analysis is the square of the Bible, a square that in 2018 underwent a reform and urban requalification. Imperatriz have a lack of public open spaces that enable leisure and socialization activities with quality. For this reason, this research intends to evaluate the quality of the renovated space from a technical and user point of view. In this research, methodologies of bibliographic, quantitative and qualitative research and survey of physical data of the study area were used, specifically the post-occupancy evaluation of open spaces. It was possible, through the application of the evaluation, to extract data regarding the performance of the square and the relevant issues from the users' point of view for future interventions and improvements in the urban quality of the square.
