Down syndrome or Trisomy 21 is considered the most common chromosomal abnormality in humans that occurs during gamete formation or after fertilization, where individuals have 47 chromosomes. Oral health and variations from normality represent the importance of dental follow-up. In view of this, this paper aims to review the literature on the importance of child care in patients with Down's Syndrome and to identify the main oral manifestations. In order to reach the objectives proposed in the present work, a bibliographic research was carried out about the theme proposed in this work, selecting scientific articles indexed in the PubMed and SciELO databases. According to the authors, the non-pharmacological techniques can and should be used in the protocol for pediatric dental care of children with Down Syndrome, whereas other literature describes the pharmacological form as effective in some cases of resistance where invasive procedures are involved. Therefore, we conclude that the dental surgeons must integrate the multidisciplinary team so that together there is a continuous monitoring and treatment of these patients since childhood.
