Endodontic treatment has increasingly benefited from the development of new techniques today. Ultrasound can be used in different stages of root canal treatment. This work aims to address the improvement in the quality of endodontic treatment using ultrasound and its various applications in endodontics, such as root canal opening, irrigation, intracanal medication application, removal of fractured instruments, removal of intraradicular retainers, endodontic retreatments, between others. This work was carried out using the basic research method, through a literature review on the specific theme. The search was carried out in the Google Scholar, SciELO and digital journals databases, using the keywords: “Ultrasound”, “Endodontics” and “Root canal treatment”. It is concluded that ultrasound is very effective, reducing clinical time and increasing treatment success rates, if used correctly.
