Third molars are considered to have the highest rates of dental impaction due to functional derangement in the dental arch. The epithelial cell residues present in the dental follicle adhered to the crown of the impacted third molar can enable potentially pathological proliferations and differentiations, such as the development of odontogenic cysts. The objective of this integrative review was, through the PICOS strategy, to answer the question “What is the incidence of cysts in impacted third molars?”. The guiding question of this integrative review was prepared for a bibliographic search to answer the question in the PubMed database. Through the keywords, eligibility criteria were listed for the selection of scientific articles made available in full. Eight scientific articles were included to answer the guiding question. As a result, it was possible to observe a considerable percentage of cystic lesions associated with impacted third molars registered, with an express manifestation of dentigerous cyst. Considering the limitations of the applied methodology, it was possible to conclude that odontogenic cysts are significantly associated with impacted third molars, with dentigerous cysts being the most diagnosed in the histopathological analysis.
