POSSIBILITIES OF INTERVENTION OF THE PSYCHOLOGIST IN THE TRANSPLANTA-TION PROCESS FOR BRAIN DEATH

Considering the great participation of doctors and nurses in the intra-hospital commissions for the donation of organs and tissues for transplantation (CIHDOTT), and the low participation of psychologists, the article aims to show the importance of the psychology professional in the commission, describing the role of the psychologist hospital, showing how the organ harvesting process works, identifying the role of the psychologist working in the commission, to finally present the possibilities of psychologist intervention in the organ harvesting process in patients diagnosed with brain death. Therefore, a narrative literature review was carried out. Research with a qualitative approach and broad character. Data were collected from books in the area, scientific articles and other specialized materials. It is concluded that the role of the psychologist in such commissions goes beyond being able to capture organs for donation, their role is also to humanize this process, to welcome the suffering of family members and the anguish of the health team.
