Malnutrition or protein-energy malnutrition (PEM) is a range of pathological conditions with simultaneous protein and calorie deficiency, in varying proportions, which preferentially affects young children and is commonly associated with infections. This study presents the topic of protein-calorie malnutrition in children in the pediatrics section, emergency bank of the municipal hospital da cela and in the maternal-infant center. The present investigation arises as a necessity for the preparation of the final work of the course, the objective of this work is to know the behavior of malnutrition as a vulnerability in pediatric populations, both hospitalized in the municipal hospital, as in the maternal and child center and those who are in outpatient treatments. The type of study used to prepare the work was the Qualitative, Descriptive Prospective Model; was the distribution of a semi-structured questionnaire proposed by Bernard (1994), which basically contained questions related to malnutrition. As for the results obtained, it was found that the highest incidence was in males, the predominant type is Kwashiorkor, poverty and precarious care for children are the basis for the emergence of the disease.
