Abstract

The possibility of surgical treatment is essential for health care, where there is a progressive technological advance that provides a cure for many diseases, in addition to reducing disability and the risk of death. Therefore, adherence to the safe surgery checklist by the entire surgical team is essential, being conducted by the nursing team, which seeks to guarantee a safe surgery for the patient, seeking support for the entire team, aiming at reducing damages and errors that may lead to patient even death, providing a quick recovery and a reduction in costs related to postoperative hospitalization. The nursing team needs to know all the steps of the checklist to provide continuing education with the other members of the surgical team, so that they certify that all the steps of the checklist are being carried out.
