The objective of this study is to describe the role of nurses in the prevention of exogenous intoxications caused by pesticides in rural workers. The methodology used to carry out the article was the bibliographic review and integrative literature review, carried out through a search in national journals, with the following descriptors: Agrochemicals; Intoxication; Prevention; Rural worker health; Nurse. Scientific productions were searched in the databases: Latin American Literature on Health Chronicles (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and Google Scholar, selecting articles from 2018 onwards. Three thematic categorizations were established: nurse's role in prevention of pesticide poisoning; importance of the nurse's work in the compulsory notification of pesticide poisoning; rural workers' perception of the risks of exposure to pesticides. This study allowed the expansion of knowledge about the importance of the role of the nurse in the prevention of exogenous poisoning by pesticides in rural workers, considering the importance of further studies on the risks of intoxication in field workers with the use of pesticides, since that their use tends to increase over time, due to the need for food supply at a global level, and it is up to the nurse to act preventively in the health care of rural workers.
