Abstract

Cardiopulmonary bypass is gaining more and more space in medicine because it is a technique used mainly in open heart surgeries such as the replacement of a valve for example, because without needing it, there will be blood for the rest of the body even with the heart stopped during the whole procedure. As with all medical procedures, CEC (Extracorporeal Circulation) has its risks and accidents that end up leading to complications during and after surgery.
