Objective: To review the literature on the contraceptive methods most used by the population and family planning. Methods: We tried an integrative review of the literature in the database: PubMed. The inclusion criteria will consist of articles published in the last five years, in English, Spanish and Portuguese, that address the proposed theme. Excluded are review studies, theses, dissertations, repeated articles that do not correspond to the subject. Results: After lifting two articles through two data banks and following the pre-established inclusion criteria, we obtained a total of 24 studies that were completed in full. Only 12 forums used in the discussion and the results are displayed in the table. Final Considerations: It is confirmed that there are still failures in family planning and two contraceptive methods that are highly effective, that is, the Intrauterine Device (IUD), by the way, or the method most used by women without contraceptive pills.
