Abstract

Currently, the electric sector around the world is experiencing a great technological evolution, with the emergence of a new model of generation, distribution and transmission of energy known as Smart Grid, which uses the insertion of information, communication and electronic technology. in the electrical grid system, through intelligent devices, which optimize the control and operation of the electricity generating concessionaires. The objective of the present study was to study the benefits of Smart Grids in the electricity distribution system. Therefore, a descriptive literature review was carried out, where authors were sought to support the proposed objective. The study observed that the use of the Smart Grid model will allow electric energy concessionaires to have a better operational efficiency, and maximization of the electric energy distribution system. Consumers, on the other hand, have the possibility to monitor their consumption in real time and also to project their expenses.
