Abstract

Due to the growth of the elderly population in recent years, there has been a significant increase in chronic degenerative diseases resulting in a high cost to the government, then we see a need for attention on this problem. Among the chronic diseases that affect the elderly, nursing care to the elderly in the Intensive Care Unit deserves special mention, as it is to rehabilitate the patient the best possible way. Thus the study aimed to: Addressing perceptions about care for the elderly to be hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The specific objectives were to describe the conceptual aspects of the elderly, aging and Intensive Care Unit; Emphasize the importance of nurses in support and comfort through communication to the elderly in an ICU well with your family. The study concluded that the contribution of this research would never be too much, it is very important yes, but it is essential that is associated with the common interest of society as a whole, since it is the duty of each of us is interested in hospitalized elderly and encourage you so you can achieve a recovery and a positive quality of life getting better, healthier and happier. The gratification and professional achievement are given the extent of recognition and gratitude for the elderly who surrenders with confidence to their care.
