Wind energy is the kinetic energy coming from the winds, and regardless of its application, its main characteristics that make it attractive for different applications are the zero cost of raw materials, such as mills and sailing vessels. The general objective was to discuss the benefits of implementing an offshore wind farm in Brazil. The methodology applied to support this research was of an exploratory nature, of the bibliographic research type, analyzing articles published in indexed journals that deal with the subject, in specific databases. Wind energy has clearly been the fastest in its development among all renewable energies, although in this hydropower statement it should not be taken into account because of its different origin and form of development compared to the others. The importance of wind energy compared to other types of renewable technologies can be explained due to the combination of two factors: the availability of resources and the maturity of the technology in terms of cost efficiency. The general need to improve energy infrastructure through technological innovation is a second chance. Connection to the grid used to be done separately by the public from companies that suffered from bureaucracy, but now they need to be serviced by wind farm developers, this is a good development for the wind energy sector in Brazil.
