This study aimed to research the perception of adult learning in Distance Education, based on Andragogy, considering the importance of the teaching role of the teacher/tutor. Andragogy works as a guideline for adult education, being a useful reference nowadays, however, it is not opposed to the principles of pedagogy. Since Andragogy is the science that aims to contribute to the learning of older students and is based on their experience and motivation, it favors, as an instrument, the success of DE. This science has been inserted into the educational system, although it needs to be expanded. therefore, in this article, a bibliographic review of an analytical nature will be done, in order to obtain a better understanding of the subject. The results of the ABED census survey, in 2018, confirm that the majority of students, who study completely at distance, are between the age groups of 26 to 30 years old (39.3%) and 31 to 40 years old (37%), which together make up 76.3% of students (CENSO EAD BR, 2018). Thus, andragogy presents itself as a proposal for adult education, as it is a model of universal and contemporary applicability, not opposing pedagogy.
