NURSING ASSISTANCE TO PREGNANT WOMEN WITH GESTATIONAL DIABETES MELLITUS

Introduction Gestational Diabetes Mellitus is classified as an intolerance of the body to metabolize carbohydrates, causing hyperglycemia during pregnancy and affects 14% of pregnant women in the world, according to studies, women aged 35 or over are more likely to develop GDM. years, 84% of those who develop the pathology are overweight. In most cases, GDM resolves after delivery. Objective: To find, in the available materials, scientific basis for the important nursing intervention for pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus. Method: This is a literature review of studies carried out from 2016 to 2021. Results: 122 files were found, where the main subjects of origin are; Nursing intervention for pregnant women with GMD; Nursing consultations in prenatal care; Educational programs for the management of gestational diabetes mellitus; Guidelines for pregnant women in prenatal care: the importance of shared care in primary health care and Treatments for gestational diabetes mellitus, Conclusion: The role of nurses in data collection, anamnesis, assessment, intervention and guidance of pregnant women during prenatal care -natal care, in order to obtain adequate and humanized care planning, including monitoring, re-education, prevention and referral to other professionals when necessary, taking care of the individuality and reality of each case.
